Media Mania

Many students from Mr. Elrod’s Radio and TV classes traveled to IASB, Indiana Association of School Broadcasting, held at the University of Indianapolis. This is a conference and a competition highlighting the field of broadcasting for high school students. There were 885 high school students in attendance and over 400 projects submitted. Students worked hard on many different projects for this competition earlier this year. Jasper entered pieces in  categories such as short film, music video, corporate video, a new category called “Student Media Website,” and more. The day started with opening regards from the president of IASB, then he sent the students on their way to attend different sessions involving the field of broadcasting. There were 20 different sessions to chose from in tracks like television, radio, and social media. Around 1 o’clock, the 885 students gathered in the Ransburg Auditorium for a Q&A Panel with professionals and the Awards ceremony. A few people from the radio and T.V. classes placed in their respective categories. The entire RTV 2 class received second place in the Radio Imaging category. Max Otto and Nolan Harmon received third place in the Corporate Video category. Mila Vernon, Emily Huddleston, and the JHS Interactive Media class received an inaugural first place in the new category “Student Media Website.”
