After waiting in a dreadful line for the shots feared by many students, Luke Ackerman (left) and Cam Killian (right) came out with smiling faces. Although it may have left a few sore arms, many students claim that it wasn’t as scary as they thought. In fact, the two junior boys joked after receiving their vaccines saying with encouragement, “Don’t be afraid to shoot your shot!”
Vaccinations such as HepA and MenB are required for high school students in the state of Indiana. Hepatitis A is an infection that causes the liver cells to become inflamed and is spread by the contamination of food or water. Meningitis is the inflammation of the brain and spinal cord membranes. This is caused by bacterial meningitis that has entered the blood stream and travels to the brain and spinal cord.
Jasper’s students received their first round on September 11th. The Dubois County Health Department and JHS nurse Hutton made this process easier with their friendly faces and caring personalities.
